The driver of a local carrier called me up a day in advance and told me between what times he would be arriving. I had the bike picked up at work because of ample truck space, and convenient availability. Within his window of 1-4pm, two guys showed up right about 1:15. The driver was about 6'2" 250 and no-nonsense. He is also a motorcyclist, and had no trouble walking my 920 pound bike over to the truck and up onto the loading ramp. I am much smaller than him, and have trouble walking my bike up the tiny lip in my garage!
The bike fit diagonally on the ramp and was hoisted into the straight truck. His helper aided him in setting the bike on a custom motorcycle palate, and buckling it down for transport. This truck was a regional one, and would be taking it to NJ or thereabouts. From there it would move onto an Allied semi and make one more stop in either "Illinois or Atlanta, we don't really know which." Whichever route is the most efficient is the next driver takes.
